Man Dies at Tennessee Music and Arts Festival

Written by on June 8, 2018

A Bonnaroo patron was found dead Friday morning on the festival’s campground in Manchester, Tennessee.

According to USA Today, the individual was identified as Michael Donivan Craddock of Mount Juliet, Tennessee. A spokesperson for the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office said law enforcement responded to a medical call at the venue at around 10:30 a.m. Shortly after they arrived, authorities discovered Craddock unresponsive inside his vehicle.

Officials told the publication that foul play is not suspected, and that the body has been sent to Nashville for an autopsy so that the exact cause of death can be determined.

Bonnaroo organizers sent Complex the following statement:

At 10:05 a.m. this morning, patrons approached the medical team in Plaza 6 requesting medical assistance for a 35-year-old male patron in his car. The medical team responded immediately and found him unresponsive upon arrival. The Coffee County Medical Examiner’s office later pronounced him dead.

Our understanding is that his car was running and the heat was on, but cause of death has not been determined.

The safety of our patrons is our highest priority, and our sympathies go out to his family and friends. We have no further information at this time.

As pointed by USA Today, Craddock’s death marks the 13th fatality that has occurred at the annual music festival since its inception 17 years ago. The last death took place in the summer of 2015, when a 47-year-old man died from a pre-existing cardiac issue.

Bonnaroo 2018 kicked off Thursday and is scheduled to continue through Sunday. This year’s musical lineup includes Eminem, Playboi Carti, Future, and Brockhampton.
