Candace Owens was called out online by Blake Neff, the producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” after the famous podcaster once again demanded that Turning Point USA disprove one of the conspiracy theories she has spread about the organization following Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
The exchange began on Tuesday after Owens reacted to an article in The Bulwark that discussed the public reception to the idea of Owens running for president.
In response to the article, Owens declared in a Tuesday X post that President Donald Trump’s “attempt to publicly shame [me] with a photo of me fighting an illness had the opposite desired effect.” The influencer was referring to the president labeling her “Vile Person of the Year,” along with a doctored Time magazine cover of the podcaster.
Owens’ post caught the attention of Neff, who responded on X, stating, “You should run. I think the whole country would benefit from learning more about who you really are.”
Following Charlie Kirk’s assassination on Sept. 10, 2025, during a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, Owens has dedicated many of her podcast episodes to discussing theories about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Along with suggesting that members of TPUSA were involved in an internal plot to murder Charlie Kirk, Owens has claimed there’s no proof that the conservative activist wanted Erika Kirk to assume the role of CEO if something happened to him.
Owens, herself a former TPUSA employee, repeated this claim during her exchange with Neff on social media.
“Tell ya what Blakey … you send me the video of Charlie appointing Erika as the CEO (in the event of his untimely death), and you have yourself a deal,” Owens wrote in response to the producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show.”
Neff argued that Owen couldn’t be trusted to keep to an agreement or uphold any promises. He noted that Owens had once promised to stop spreading conspiracy theories about Charlie Kirk’s assassination if Erika Kirk asked, but continued to do so after the widow requested that she stop.
“You said you’d meet us any time, any place, then said you couldn’t come to Phoenix because of some bogus assassination plot involving the cartels (lol),” Neff continued. “Charlie was a far greater man than myself and he couldn’t fix you. Why would anybody trust you to change your behavior now?”
Last August, around 200 TPUSA donors attended an exclusive retreat in Aspen, Colorado, where Charlie Kirk was reportedly asked to name his successor in the event of his death, according to the Daily Mail, which claims to have had exclusive access to the video but didn’t release it publicly.
“A lot of my job is not always in the day-to-day details. It’s very much vision casting, very much driving success,” Charlie Kirk allegedly said in response to the donor’s question.
“We have a great board and God forbid if something happens, they’ll figure it out. I appoint my wife to run Turning Point USA if something happens to me. Erika would do a great job,” he added.
The Daily Mail also reported that Mike Miller, a longtime TPUSA board member, said that Charlie Kirk had received death threats, and as his fame grew, the conservative activist contemplated what would become of his mission if he became unable to carry it out.
“I said, Charlie, ‘God forbid something happens, what do you recommend that we do?’ He said, ‘Erika is very bright, she can handle it, we have discussed this. I would be totally comfortable with Erika running things,’” Miller recalled.
