Some five months after he was acquitted of sexual assault charges by a Tarrant County grand jury due to insufficient evidence, Texas megachurch pastor Ronnie Goines allegedly sexually assaulted another woman, according to claims in a new personal injury lawsuit.
The 10-page complaint filed by a Jane Doe on Oct. 27 lists Goines and his Koinonia Christian Church in Arlington as defendants. It is also seeking more than $50,000 in damages for physical and emotional suffering.
According to the complaint, Jane Doe first met Goines at a Dallas restaurant in June 2025, where he introduced himself as pastor of the church and touted his leadership and community connections. She said she made it clear to Goines that she wasn’t interested in “romantic contact” but expressed interest in business and platonic friendship.
“She told him she was only interested in working on her business goals and platonic friendship. Defendant Goines told Jane Doe he understood and was amenable to that. Jane Doe and Defendant Goines continued communicating with each other,” the complaint states.
Jane Doe alleges that Goines soon connected her with “a business run by administration at Koinonia Christian Church and offered her other professional contacts.”
She alleges that Goines later counseled her “that God was guiding her to him and that their interactions were God’s plan.” She alleges that Goines sexually assaulted her at his home in August 2025, and a second time at her home in September 2025.
“On or about August 20, 2025, in Mansfield, Tarrant County, Texas, Plaintiff was sexually assaulted by Defendant Goines at his home located in Mansfield, Texas. On or about September 23, 2025, Plaintiff was sexually assaulted by Defendant Goines at her home located in Dallas County, Texas,” the complaint states.
The church is accused of negligent hiring, negligent supervision, negligent retention, and continuing employment, while Goines is accused of grooming and abusing his role as a pastor to sexually assault Jane Doe. The petition alleges the church had prior notice of Goines’ “sexual misconduct with prior members of Koinonia” and failed to remove him “while he had pending sexual abuse claims against him.”
“Defendant Goines sexually groomed Plaintiff under the guise of his pastorship with Defendant Koinonia, to sexually assault and sexually harass Plaintiff. Defendant Goines knew or reasonably should have known that Plaintiff would regard the contact as offensive and provocative,” the lawsuit states. “Defendant Goines’s offensive physical contact caused injury and subsequent damages to Plaintiff.”
Doe is represented by Lacey Turley Most of the Turley Law Firm in Dallas.
In a previous claim, a Lubbock dentist alleged in a now-dismissed Feb. 28, 2025, lawsuit filed in Tarrant County that she was sexually assaulted by Goines on two occasions.
The dentist, who became a member of the church on Oct. 2, 2022, alleged she was sexually assaulted by Goines on or about March 3 and March 4, 2023, after a period of grooming. She subsequently cut off all ties with Goines and the church and reported the assaults to police in early June 2024.
After surrendering to police in July 2024, Goines was charged with one count each of sexual assault and indecent assault, which he insists were consensual acts. The grand jury no-billed the felony sexual assault charge on March 19, 2025, and prosecutors dismissed the misdemeanor indecent assault charge the following month.
“As counsel for Pastor Goines, I am pleased with the outcome of the grand jury’s investigation resulting in the no-bill of indictment that effectively acquits him of this heinous allegation,” Goines’ attorney, Michael Heiskell, told KERA News at the time. “From the beginning, we asserted his innocence in court and have remained steadfast in that position.”
