Grammy-winning artist P!nk praised Planned Parenthood staff as “warriors” after the organization honored her with an award at a New York gala, following the release of its annual report showing that the number of abortions it performed in recent years hit record highs.
P!nk, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore-Hart, received the “Champion of Change Award” during Planned Parenthood of Greater New York’s “Spring Into Action Gala” last week. The event’s honorary committee included actresses Patricia Arquette, Meryl Streep and Amy Poehler.
P!nk is known for handing out pamphlets from Planned Parenthood and No Kid Hungry: End Child Hunger in America during her shows, according to Vogue.
“I was the teenager who would go to Planned Parenthood,” she told the outlet. “It was the place in our town that cared. These people are warriors, especially with this onslaught — this war — against women in our current administration.”
In a Friday X post, Students for Life of America (SFLA), a leading pro-life activist organization, condemned Planned Parenthood for “throwing a glamorous gala … to celebrate abortion.”
“Hollywood claps and Vogue cheers. Meanwhile, innocent lives are ended every day,” SFLA stated. “You can rebrand it. You can glam it up. Abortion still ends a human life.”
“Stop pretending it’s healthcare,” the pro-life advocacy group continued. “Defund and debar Planned Parenthood, NOW.”
Earlier this month, the organization released its annual report for 2024-2025, revealing it performed 434,450 abortions in 2023–2024. It also received $832 million in government health service reimbursements and grants, accounting for 38% of its revenue.
The report found the nation’s largest abortion provider spent $3.7 million in fiscal year 2024–2025 to help more than 12,000 patients travel out of state to obtain abortions. The funds covered “transportation, lodging, meals, and dependent care” for women seeking abortions who live in states where abortion is banned in most or nearly all cases.
According to an analysis of the data by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, the research arm of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, the number of abortions at Planned Parenthood reached a record high, increasing by 8% compared to the previous year.
While supporters of Planned Parenthood often argue the organization provides services beyond abortion, since 2014, the number of cancer screenings and prevention services it offers has dropped by 43%, including a 55% decrease in breast cancer screenings and a 38% decline in Pap tests.
Multiple pro-life advocates have called on President Donald Trump’s administration to prevent federal funds from supporting Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers. Many also criticized the Trump administration earlier this year for allowing another year of Title X funding to go to Planned Parenthood.
“Funding Planned Parenthood means propping up a business whose main purpose is to end the lives of innocent unborn children,” SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a March 31 statement.
“This is a clear abandonment as the first Trump administration enacted the Protect Life Rule to stop Title X funding of Planned Parenthood,” she continued. “It should have been a ‘Day One’ policy in the second administration. Instead, we are 14 months in, and this hasn’t been prevented.”
White House spokesperson Kush Desai told The Christian Post at the time that the Trump administration “issued the fifth and final year of Title X grants that were locked in place during the Biden presidency.”
“The administration faced significant legal challenges in stopping any of these dollars from going out,” Desai said, adding that it “remains committed to realigning the Title X program with the president’s pro-life and pro-family agenda going forward.”
Desai also said the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will soon release a new Title X funding opportunity for the next five-year cycle that “prioritizes life and promotes the pro-family agenda.”
