Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, has performed a record number of abortions in recent years as debate continues about its federal funding.
Planned Parenthood released its Annual Report 2024-2025 this week, revealing that the abortion business performed 434,450 abortions in 2023-24. Although the report is dated 2024-2025, the information about services in the report covers ’23-24. Abortions constituted approximately 4% of the services provided at Planned Parenthood during that time. It also received $832 million in government health service reimbursements and grants, which accounted for 38% of its revenue.
The report also found that Planned Parenthood spent $3.7 million in fiscal year 2024-25 to assist over 12,000 patients travel out of state to obtain abortions. The funds covered “transportation, lodging, meals, and dependent care” for women seeking abortions who reside in states where abortion is banned in most or almost all cases.
An analysis from the Charlotte Lozier Institute, the research arm of the pro-life advocacy group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, showed that the number of abortions at Planned Parenthood reached a record high, spiking 8% compared to the years examined in the previous annual report, and 34% since 2014.
Meanwhile, since 2014, the number of cancer screenings and prevention services conducted by Planned Parenthood has dropped by 43%, with a 55% decrease in breast cancer screenings and a 38% decline in pap tests.
It’s important to note that Planned Parenthood has never offered or provided funds for mammograms. The only type of breast cancer screenings ever offered — and only at select clinics if a nurse is available — is a self-touch exam.
Additional findings from the most recent annual report show that although the number of clients served by Planned Parenthood increased by 0.5% compared to last year’s annual report, the number of clients has dropped by 16% since 2014. Yet, the government funding given to Planned Parenthood has increased by 50% since 2014.
Tessa Cox, senior research associate for the Charlotte Lozier Institute, said in a statement that, “Yet again, abortions performed by Planned Parenthood hit a record high, demonstrating that abortion remains a top priority for the organization. Over the past decade, abortions, government funding, and total revenue soared, even as the number of clients served has declined and total services have stagnated.”
The release of the Planned Parenthood annual report comes as the Trump administration faces criticism from pro-life activists for continuing to provide the organization with taxpayer funds under the Title X program.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser issued a statement condemning the move to give the abortion provider Title X funding as “a clear abandonment as the first Trump administration enacted the Protect Life to stop Title X funding of Planned Parenthood.”
The Trump administration has insisted that its hands are tied, with White House spokesman Kush Desai telling The Christian Post that the funding consists of “the fifth and final year of Title X grants that were locked in place during the Biden presidency.”
“The Administration faced significant legal challenges in stopping any of these dollars from going out [and] remains committed to realigning the Title X program with the president’s pro-life and pro-family agenda going forward.”
While the federal government continues to provide taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood through the Title X program, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed into law by President Donald Trump last year prohibits Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers from receiving any funds that “are considered direct spending and provided to carry out a State plan under title XIX of the Social Security Act for one year.”
Since the One Big Beautiful Bill Act did not take effect until fiscal year 2026, the impact of this defunding is not reflected in the annual report.
