Mel Gibson’s Icon Productions announced that Pastor Samuel Rodriguez has officially joined as an ambassador for the feature film “The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One,” according to the El Mensaje Comunicaciones communications firm.
This appointment involves Rodríguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), in promoting the highly anticipated biblical sequel.

The collaboration began after the Hispanic pastor visited the film set in Italy at Gibson’s direct invitation. During this meeting with filmmakers and church leaders, a joint agenda was developed to mobilize churches for the film’s release dates in May 2027 and May 2028, as well as the special re-release of “The Passion of the Christ.”
The pastoral leader emphasized the missionary potential of this project for the contemporary Church.
“The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the defining event in the history of humanity,” Rodríguez noted. “It is an honor to serve alongside Mel Gibson and this extraordinary team to help bring this story to audiences around the world, at a time when so many people are searching for hope, purpose, and truth.”

Rodriguez leads the New Season church in Sacramento, California, and has produced acclaimed films such as “Breakthrough” and “Flamin’ Hot,” establishing himself as one of the most prominent Hispanic Christian voices in the United States.
At the beginning of this year, the pastor formalized the launch of BeLight Productions, becoming the first Latino pastor to lead a film production company of this level.
His current work reaffirms the premise of using mass media to exalt the name of Jesus and strengthen the pastoral ministry internationally.
